Safer viewings and rental payments

A verified sign-in does not prove that someone owns a property or is authorised to advertise it. Slow down when pressure, secrecy or unusual payment instructions appear.

Before a viewing

• Tell someone where you are going and meet during daylight when possible.
• Do not send identity documents through an unverified chat.
• Check that the property and the person showing it match the advert.

Before paying

• Read the agreement and confirm the recipient’s identity.
• Request a receipt that explains what the payment is for.
• Avoid urgency, gift cards, cryptocurrency or payment to an unrelated third party.

If something feels wrong

Stop the transaction, preserve the messages and report the listing. For immediate danger or suspected crime, contact the appropriate Namibian authorities.
